YouTube has recently released a statement stating that it is introducing a new feature to hide the public dislike count on videos. This will help protect creators from online harassment and distasteful comments. This new feature will soon be available and will only be visible to the content uploader.
Although dislike counts will not be visible to the general public, the company does not intend to remove the dislike button. To express their disapproval to creators, users can still click on the thumbs-down button. Creators will still be able to track their dislikes and other analytics regarding their video’s performance in YouTube Studio.
YouTube has been questioned by some because their video is the most disliked on the platform.
YouTube Rewind 2018 has more than 19 million dislikes compared to three million likes, YouTube claims that YouTube isn’t stating this as a reason for the change.
