Rafa Nadal has withdrawn from the remainder of the Laver Cup due to personal concerns, following a doubles match with a friend and rival Roger Federer.

Pictures and videos showed Federer and Nadal, who had one of sports' most intriguing rivalries, sobbing on a chair after joining Team Europe.

The Spaniard, who owns a men's record 22 Grand Slam titles, later stated that with Federer's retirement, a significant part of him was also leaving the Tour.

Nadal, who is expecting his first child with wife Mery Perello, travelled to London to play with Federer in his final professional match.

Federer was replaced by Italian Matteo Berrettini in Team Europe, which was knotted with Team World at 2-2 after the first day of matches.
